A Little Bit About Us

Commonwealth Comedy Club is Cincinnati’s newest independent comedy club. We opened in July 2023 in an old neighborhood church located in Dayton, KY, with views of the gorgeous Cincinnati skyline just beyond our front door. Each week, we strive to bring in the best comedians working in the country right now, and invite you into our intimate venue to see them perform. We are a small, 100-seat theater. When you see a performance in our room, with a tasty beverage and snack in hand, it is a unique and personal experience you won’t forget.

Want To Perform Here?
If you are a national or regional headliner with credits, a strong social media presence, and proven draw in Cincinnati, then you should send us an email introducing yourself and your work.
Otherwise, Commonwealth Comedy Club operates on a passed system. We have a talented roster of paid regulars. To join that group of hilarious people, we suggest the following steps:
- Regularly attend and get up at open-mics around Cincinnati or the region. Write some jokes and do those jokes in front live human audiences. Do this a lot before moving on to step 2.
- Regularly attend THE WORKSHOP on Monday nights at Commonwealth Comedy Club. This is our weekly free show. It is a highly competitive, curated open-mic. In person sign-ups are from 6-6:45 PM. Not everyone who signs up necessarily gets up. It can take newer comedians weeks or months to get their first time on our stage on Mondays. Don’t be discouraged by this. Keep coming and let us get to know you as a person. Your time to show us your comedy will eventually come.
- After doing step 2 for a while, you might receive an invite from us to perform on one of our frequent showcases. These showcases typically happen on Thursday and Sunday evenings, and have a lower ticket price than our headliner shows on Fridays and Saturdays. These shows give you the chance at a little more stage time, and gives us a chance to see if you can bring people out, and to see you work longer sets in front of paying audiences.
Who Are We?
Commonwealth Comedy Club is a small, dedicated team of comedians, avid comedy fans, and creatives. We love this place and we love what we do. When you are here, we hope that this attitude shines through, whether you are performing here, or taking in a show.
