Staff Picks: Comedian, Actor, Writer, JUDY GOLD

Stand Up Comedy

JUDY GOLD ranks as one of the most fearless voices in stand-up comedy, which is why she is this week’s staff pick for shows to see here coming soon! She brings intelligence, honesty, and sharp timing to every performance. And she’s coming to our stage February 13th and 14th at 7:30 and 9:45 PM.

Gold started stand-up when she was nineteen years old; she did her first set at Rutgers in 1981. She was passed at Catch a Rising Star in 1985, and has been a regular at the Comedy Cellar since the 1980s.

Judy Gold has released three comedy albums. They include Judith’s Roommate Had a Baby, Kill Me Now, and Conduct Unbecoming. Her stand up comedy specials have aired on HBO, Comedy Central, and LOGO. Netflix also featured her in Stand Out: An LGBTQ+ Celebration and the documentary OUTSTANDING: A Comedy Revolution.

Her career extends far beyond stand up comedy. Judy Gold won two Daytime Emmy Awards for her work on The Rosie O’Donnell Show. She later hosted HBO’s At the Multiplex with Judy Gold for over a decade. She appeared on the popular sitcom, Roseanne. She starred in All-American Girl with Margaret Cho. She later appeared in shows like Better Things, The First Lady, City on a Hill, and Extrapolations. She also shows up on Broad City, Girls5Eva, and Friends from College.

And did we mention she is also an accomplished writer? In 2020, she published the book Yes I Can Say That. The book tackles free speech and cancel culture. She later adapted it into a solo show. BD Wong directed the production in 2023.

She hosts the podcast It’s Judy’s Show with Judy Gold. She interviews comedians, actors, and thinkers. She serves on the board of the National Coalition Against Censorship. She speaks openly about LGBTQ+ issues and Jewish identity.

Commonwealth Comedy Club, a premiere comedy club in Cincinnati, offers the perfect space for her comedy. The room is intimate. The laughs feel louder. Judy Gold thrives in close quarters and we know our fans appreciate that energy. Get your TICKETS to see JUDY GOLD before they are gone.
